Hey! Welcome to the Friends of a Feather podcast! I'm your host, Wren! As women, we need to build each other up, to encourage each other in our walks with Jesus. Each week, I get to chat with a friend who has a story to tell, a passion to share, or a dream she is pursuing. Be encouraged! We are all friends of a feather; let's stick together!

Hi friend! Last time we were together, you heard from Beth McCord when she encouraged us how the Gospel changes us. I LOVE that Beth shared about the core longings that we each have and it was so interesting to hear that. Be encouraged by listening to Beth’s story about how she has found the Enneagram personality system such a great tool when she was a wife and young mother starting her family. You can listen to ep. 128 here.

Today’s episode is with Lindsay Leiviska, She is a wife, mom of three, writer, and homeschool coach. I asked her to share her precious story of how 18 months after adopting her son, her family went from a calm home to one of chaos. But, in that, Lindsay shares how God took her brokenness, and mercifully showed her himself. I try not to ask questions that make my guests cry, but you know when us mommas talk about our kids, sometimes the tears just flow!

Last time we were together, you heard from my friend, Lynn Lyle who encouraged us that God’s Got This. In these really interesting days we are living in, throughout the Covid-19 virus, it is encouraging to hear that we are not alone, that God is still on the throne, He is not wringing His hands and that HE is in control.

To be encouraged by listening to Lynn’s story of walking through cancer as a five year old and because of that losing her arm a few years ago, you can listen by clicking here

Today’s episode is with Enneagram expert and coach, Beth McCord.  You may have seen her live, on Instagram, or read one of her and her husbands books from their online ministry and company, Your Enneagram Coach. I ask her to share how she started using the Enneagram in her own life and Beth shares each types core longings and she shares a word picture about a cistern  that I will not forget.

I love getting a text from a friend with a podcast attached to it! Thanks ya’ll.

Today’s episode is with my friend, Katie Lewis.  You may know Katie from her online company, Dear Mushka.  Katie shares with us her story of walking through grief when she lost her mother a few years ago.  She hasn’t ever really talked about it publicly until now.  We also talk about how Katie disciples her children and how it’s messy, not perfect, but that we as moms are in this together!

We chat about when Katie and her husband, Robert followed God’s calling for them to adopt. They have three precious boys and it’s neat to see that they began their company to fund their first adoption.  We chat about how God led Katie and Robert to be on the same page but it did take some time.  There is a part of the conversation when I literally GASP when Katie shared with me an AMAZING story of them naming their first son. Be listening for that..not that you could miss it. ha

Katie also gives encouragement to other mom small business owners and it was so good.  If you are ready to be encouraged, let’s jump in!

Happy Monday, friend! If this is your first time being here or if you've joined me for all 7 Monday Boost episodes, welcome!

On Fridays, I invite a friend to come on the episode to share her God story with us and on Mondays I share a practical word from God that He's been teaching me that week! Come for a whole lotta Jesus and a whole lotta encouragement!

Today, I was reading in my One Year Bible and there were a some specific character Qualities that I saw in scripture in Joseph’s story that I desire to have in my own life.

And, I thought these may encourage you in your walk as well!  I love Joseph’s story in the Bible and everytime I hear a sermon or read it, I hear something new!  There are three character qualities that I saw in the exerpt of Joseph’s story today and that’s what I’m going to share!

Today’s episode is with my guests Polly Conner & Rachel Tiemeyer. They are the gals from the Thriving Home blog! If you have seen my Instagram Stories lately you have seen what I’ve been making for dinner and it’s been some recipes from their blog! Let’ me just say I tried three of their recipes and they are now in my monthly rotation that’s for sure!

On today’s episode you will hear a part of Polly and Rachel’s story. Their journeys of creating and sharing recipes began with two very different stories of their view about food. Rachel’s oldest child was 18 months old when they had to adjust their family eating habits because they found out he had Crohn’s disease and wanted healthy options for him. Polly walked through a weight loss journey that led her to whole food eating.

They have perfected fixing food for their families using whole food ingredients and no or fewer processed ones while being versatile for busy women! And all the mommas said AMEN!

Happy Monday, friend! If this is your first time being here or if you’ve joined me for all 7 Monday Boost episodes, WELCOME!

On Fridays I invite a friend to come on the episode to share her God story with all of us and on Mondays I just started this mini podcast called Monday Boost where I share a practical word from God that He’s been teaching me that week. Come for a whole lotta Jesus and a whole lotta encouragement!

Today I’m really excited about sharing with you. I have been reading out of my One Year Bible about Abraham.

And, you know, the BEST way to really seal truth into our hearts is when we speak it out loud. I know truths that I learn from God’s word go so much deeper when I share them with a friend. Sharing could look like speaking it in a small discipleship group that you are in, or maybe teaching younger women in a Life Group, or it could totally be in a conversation with a friend! I think its SO NEAT when God leads a conversation to a situation that I have been learning about in the Bible.

So, I’m going to share something that God gave me through His word. And, I was able to share it with a friend. We talked about how it could totally relate to a situation I was walking through that particular day AND how it related to a TOTALLY DIFFERENT situation SHE has been walking through.

I’m going to share that today…a literal message I had left for a friend on Voxer.

Today’s episode is with my guest, Erika Opperman. Erika and I have a mutual friend and I love how Jenny connected us! Erika and her husband Brian were part of a church plant two years ago along in Kansas City with her two sons, Axel and Max, don’t you just love their names?!

On today’s episode you will hear Erika’s story. As a young pre-teen girl, Erika’s teacher at school voiced concern to her parents as she was showing signs of anxiety. And, Erika saw herself sitting across from a Christian counselor at just eleven years old. A quote that I asked her about on the episode was when she said, “Jesus saved my life, but His word saved my mind.” We talk about what made the difference as an eleven year old. A few years later, Erika felt God calling her to full time Christian ministry when she was 16 and she shares lessons she’s learned along the way.

On this episode, we also talk about the different seasons God has called us to, what Biblical perseverance looks like, scripture memory, and what God is teaching her in a recent time of grief her family has walked through losing her father in law. It will be uplifting to you especially if you are walking that road right now.

Erika and I jumped on Facebook last month when we recorded our conversation for today’s podcast and recorded the first half on video. It was SO MUCH FUN! I will link the video in our show notes for ya!

Happy New Year! It has been a while since we’ve talked and I’m so excited to be back with you! The pausing I did over the month of December was much needed and so enjoyable to me! If you are needing to press pause in one way or two this January, I will link that 5 minute Monday Boost episode in the Show Notes for ya!

So many GREAT conversations I can’t wait for you to hear this year!! I’m planning a lot, so stick around! You are gonna love them!

----Anybody want to give me a last minute new years happy? I would love for you to click the stars to rate the podcast! A click on all 5 stars would be so great. And, if you want to go one step further to write a sentence or two to review the podcast, oh my goodness I would be so grateful for that!!!

On today’s episode you will hear Victoria’s story. You will hear my conversation with Victoria Strader, who was born in Paris, is a wife, mom to two, and a blogger. She’s been in the States ever since she learned to walk, and is Southern as Sweet Tea. She is now a Texan and loves all things Southern. At the beginning of our interview, I wasn’t sure how long Victoria had been living in the states and thought there may have been a slight chance, she still spoke with a British accent. HA.

Nevertheless, Victoria and I instantly connected in our conversation. I haven’t walked the road she is on, but when you know Jesus, He connects us all, doesn’t he? We talk about how Victoria’s son, Beau was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder.

What I think is so precious about Victoria is that she is navigating a hard road as a momma, but continues to have a heaven perspective on it reflecting on God’s kindness. She mentions that she keeps going back to the verse in Romans that we can know that God causes ALL things to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

In this episode we talk about: Wonderful Wednesday, being a Special Needs Family, we camp out on the type of friend Victoria wants to be, how her friends met some tangible needs and stepped into uncomfortable places for her family in a small, yet huge way. We also talk about how Victoria needs your help in finding a recipe…listen to the end for that!

And, a lil reminder….

Show Notes will be at wrenrobbins.com/podcast/113 You can sign up to receive those in your inbox if that’s easier for you! At the bottom of my home page there is a form to get my freebie of 5 ways to be a good friend and get on my email list.
